Community Involvement

NSNA National Convention - April 2026

As the board, we attended the National Student Nurses Association convention in Houston, Texas. We got to learn all about advocacy and policy in nursing and bring it back to share with the members at our school! We also got to fundraise for our SNA organization as well!

Nurses Day at the Capitol- February 2026

In February, some of the board members attended Nurses Day at the Capitol in Little Rock. We got to connect with others and learn all about nursing laws being passed at the State and National level.

ARISA Donation - December 2025

In December, the students of SNA and in the nursing program donated items for the ARISA mental health center. We made each client a Christmas gift full of the basic necessities they need such as- socks, soap, toothbrush, shampoo, a fun item or two plus much more! We loved getting to treat these people who are so close to our heart!

Valentine's Day Nursing Ice Cream Social - February 2024

Our Valentine's Day event was on February 12th in the Arkansas State University College of Nursing and Health Professions building. We handed out free grab and go ice cream for everyone! We loved getting to put a smile on the students' faces!

Narcan Education Event - February 2024

Our Narcan administration and safety education event was performed on February 5th by our very own board member, Matti! It was held at Arkansas State University and everyone that attended received a Narcan certification at the end.

SNA Open Meeting - November 2023

On November 13th at 6 pm, we held an open SNA meeting welcome to all nursing and pre-nursing students! Here, we talked about joining SNA, upcoming events happening, and how they all could get more involved! We also did a Shadrachs Coffee gift card giveaway!

SNA Benefit Night - November 2023

Our SNA benefit night November 7th from 3-10 pm at Texas Roadhouse. We were raising money to help us attend national convention. We were so excited that we got to see everyone there!

ANSA State Convention - September 2023

Thank you to Arkansas Nursing Students' Association for hosting the Arkansas state convention in September! We had such a great time getting to experience and listen to so many talented speakers!

We are happy to say that we received five different state awards including:

- Breakthrough to Nursing

- Financial Excellence

- Outstanding Newsletter

- Community Health

- Image of Nursing

We are also proud to announce that many of our Arkansas State University SNA board members have been elected onto the ANSA ‘23-‘24 board including:

Let's Taco 'Bout Nursing - August 2023

Our Welcome Week event, Let's Taco 'Bout Nursing, was such a success! Everyone was welcome, including the pre-nursing students, and we had such a fun time. We also took donations for Jonesboro’s Leadership Magnet School! We asked for the following items:
- Refillable water bottles
- Reusable ponchos
- Pants, shorts, and underwear sizes 6-10 for boys and girls
- Hair products (For example: Leave in conditioner, edge control, bobby pins, headbands, etc.)
- Disposable wash cloths/hygiene wipes
We also accepted monetary donations and anyone that donated was entered into the giveaway for many different items like, Cheddar's gift cards, Longhorn Steakhouse coupons, Buff City baskets, Healthwear items, and so much more! We loved this event and getting to see everyone!

Period Packing Party - February 2023

A-State Student Nurses Association hosted a Period Packing Party to help end Period Poverty in Arkansas. Period Poverty is defined as a lack of access to menstrual products, hygiene and education. Local organizations were tasked by bringing donations to the event and packing bags of 8 tampons, 8 pads, and 8 panty liners. The bags were then taken to local homeless shelters, churches, health departments and other non profits. The A-State SNA is still accepting all donations of products including tampons, pads and panty liners as well as monetary donations. We have donated to several places within our community that can utilize these items including local schools, health departments, and women's centers.

ANSA State Convention - 2022

The ANSA State Convention was held in Hot Springs during September 2022. There were hundreds of nursing students in attendance, representing different nursing schools around the state of Arkansas. There were focus sessions and volunteer opportunities for students to participate in so they can broaden their nursing education.

Welcome Week - 2022

Every year SNA hosts an event to welcome back nursing students to another year of college. this year our theme was "Everything Nursing" and we accepted donations for Microsociety, a local magnet school. We provided a meal to future/current nursing students and ended the event with a raffle featuring awesome prizes!

ANSA Convention - 2018

State Convention was held in Little Rock, Arkansas this year. We had numerous opportunities to listen to Focus sessions that had a wide array of nursing topics. We also had the chance to dissect a heart, which was such an enlightening experience. We can't wait for Nationals. 

Welcome Week - 2018

Welcome Week was a great way to welcome our nursing students back to school. We kicked off the event by playing a few games, hosting a raffle, and providing a meal. We encouraged our members to donate to the Microsociety, a magnet school located in Jonesboro, AR.
